Description The Bloodhound is a very massive hound, powerful with a long muzzle, drooping ears, and loose, wrinkled skin. | ||
Size Males are 25 inches to 27 inches, and females are from 23 inches to 25 inches. Adult males are 90-110 lbs and females 80-100 lbs. | ||
Coat They have short, coarse hairs. | ||
Color The standard colors of Bloodhounds are black & tan, liver & tan or red. | ||
Temperament Bloodhounds are extremely affectionate, somewhat shy in nature. | ||
Care Eyes, ears, and skin should be inspected frequently for signs of developing problems. They need enough socialization to keep then active. | ||
Exercise Bloodhound need lots of exercise to prevent boredom. They can become rambunctious if they do not have enough to do. | ||
Training Sometimes the Bloodhound is difficult to train. With the proper amount of time and effort it can be achieved. | ||
Shedding Bloodhounds do shed. | ||
Barking & Howling Their deep voice is an extremely loud bay and carries a long way. | ||
Life Expectancy Bloodhounds can live about 6-8 years. | ||
Health Bloodhounds can have hip problems, heart disease and stomach disorders. | ||
